Deadly Jellyfish halts Fool's Gold
The discovery of deadly species of jellyfish is spreading along
Australia's coastline as a result of global warming has halted
production of a Hollywood film, Fool's Gold, starring Kate Hudson
and Matthew McConaughey, who were originally due to be filmed
swimming in the sea yesterday.
Irukandji jellyfish are among the world's most toxic creatures. The
size of a thumbnail and translucent, they are all but impossible to
detect in the water - but pack a potentially lethal punch belying
their tiny size.
Until recently it was thought that they were confined to Australia's
northern tropical waters, but marine biologists have now found them
off Queensland's Fraser Island - a popular tourist spot about 400
miles south of their previously assumed range.

hit CBS show, but never won. He won an Emmy in 1996 for Outstanding
Guest Actor in a Drama Series for an appearance on "The X Files." He
most recently appeared in the Christmas comedy "The Santa Clause 3:
The Escape Clause" playing Father Time. According to IMDB, John
Lennon was the best man at his wedding back in 1977. In a career

More
legal woes for 'Borat'
In the same week a judge rejected a request by two University of
South Carolina fraternity brothers to cut their scenes from the film
or block the comedy's DVD release, another suit has been filed
against the film in South Carolina. A man claims he was
accosted by the star of the spoof documentary Borat while using a
restroom at a restaurant last year, according to a lawsuit. The
scene with the man, who is not identified in the suit, doesn't
appear in the movie but has been shown on Comedy Central and various
video-sharing websites, said lawyer Jonathan Milling. "He has been
contacted by numerous people who have recognized him," Milling said.
The plaintiff, a South Carolina resident, says British comedian
Sacha Baron Cohen posed as a bathroom attendant at Ristorante Divino
in October 2005, invading his privacy and staring as he used a
urinal. The plaintiff was told a crew was filming a documentary on
tourism but he never saw cameras, which were hidden in the restroom,
according to the lawsuit. The lawsuit makes no mention of a consent
waiver and Milling said his client was not paid. The man is suing
both the restaurant and 20th Century Fox, seeking compensation, an
injunction blocking filmmakers from including the footage on the
film's DVD release and removal of the clip from Internet sites.
'Political
Engagement' first to utilize the new San Antonio Film District
The new
romantic comedy feature film “Political Engagement,” currently in
development by politician turned movie producer and director Gregory
Parker, and his brother Christopher Parker of Two Brothers
Productions has committed to be the first major feature film to
utilize the new Film District organized by the city of San Antonio,
Texas. The SA Film District has been set up as a 501
non-profit corporation in order to provide strong tax benefits for
film projects. The SA Film District houses the largest
studio in Texas, many production suites, access to the Alamo Dome,
River Walk, Downtown San Antonio, ranches, lake
houses, and vacation homes
all over Texas. According to Mark Sullivan, a representative
for the district, said " the
assembly-line process of the S.A. Film District helps provide you
with all your production needs- from accounting to wardrobe. Think
of it as a sheltered environment for creating; or as a nice, safe
backyard with all the toys you need already laid out for you, and a
nurturing caretaker to help you."
“Political
Engagement” is about a divorced Mayor of Atlanta, who is in a very
close campaign for U.S. Senate. He finds that his womanizing ways
has caused him to lose favor with voters. In an effort to regain
that favor and win the election, he enlists the
aid of his
ex-wife and plans a fake engagement. The theatrical release is
planned to coincide with the Presidential Election of 2008. To
provide a twist, Two Brothers Productions will actually run a
candidate in the election under the pseudo name, Chris Palmer, the
lead character in the film, which will blur the line between reality
and fiction. The producers have signed actress
Jennifer Sciole
for the supporting role of Emily Basil (Chris Palmers Aide), and
they are currently in talks with several "A List" actors for the
lead roles of Chris Palmer and Catherine Mason. Pictured are

Jennifer Sciole.

and direct. Fox Searchlight is rumored to be in talks to

films at Sundance, the nation's top showcase for independent cinema.
The festival runs Jan. 18-28 in Park City, Utah.
Also
competing is Alfredo de Villa's "Adrift in Manhattan," starring
Graham in an ensemble drama set among New Yorkers at crossroads;

Rockwell in the story of a teenager whose life is intercut with that
of his former babysitter and her estranged husband; and Fanning in a
yet to be titled movie.

dramatic competitions.

Nicole Kidman at top of Best-Paid List
Nicole
Kidman has replaced Julia Roberts as the highest-paid actress in
Hollywood. According to the Hollywood Reporter, Kidman's $17
million was $3 million short of Roberts's salary when she appeared
on the list last year. This year, however, Roberts took the year off
to spend it with her 2-year-old twins. Tied for No. 2 on the 2006
list were Reese Witherspoon, Renee Zellweger, Drew Barrymore and
Cameron Diaz, each of whom receives $15 million per film.

Murphy to Reprise Axel in Beverly Hills Cop IV
Eddie Murphy has signed with Paramount to reprise his role as in the
action-comedy Beverly Hills Cop franchise.
‘Beverly Hills Cop IV’ will have Lorenzo di Bonaventura return as
producer working closely with Murphy to update the property. di
Bonaventura has a production deal with Paramount.
‘Beverly Hills Cop,’ released in 1984, grossed more than $234.7
million domestically and another $81 million overseas. The second
installment, released in 1987, took in more than $153.6 million in
the U.S. and another $146 million overseas.
No. 3 did not fare too well only grossing $44 million domestically –
some attribute to the fact that Jerry Bruckheimer was not involved
with the pic like he was with #1 and #2.
Bruckheimer will probably not be involved in the new
movie.
"Axel Foley is one of the great action-comedy characters, a
character that Eddie loves. I'm lucky enough to help bring it back,"
di Bonaventura said. "This genre is missing from the landscape."
Murphy is next seen in ‘Dreamgirls’ and in post production with ‘Norbit.’

corrupt police lieutenant in the film. The second movie will partner
Clooney with buddy Jerry Weintraub in the Warner Bros. Pictures film

Film Giant Altman Passes
Robert Altman, who died Monday night at 81, was a great
anti-establishment maverick. Altman's massive body of work,
including "M*A*S*H" and "Gosford Park," stand as one of the most
important in American cinema.
Altman died in Los Angeles from an unspecified cancer, according to
a release from his production company, Sandcastle 5: "He had lived
and worked with the disease for the last 18 months, a period that
included the making of his film 'A Prairie Home Companion.' His
death was nevertheless a surprise: Altman was in pre-production on a
film he had planned to start shooting in February."

percent interest in the channel.

Casino Royale Hijacked by Pirates
James Bond has been hi-jacked by pirates, just days after the
release of Casino Royale. Cambridge-based Envisional has
found that at least two pirated versions of the film have already
been made available for free - and illegal - downloading
on well-known public websites such as Mininova and TorrentSpy and
across a wide range of peer to peer networks. 'The first version was
made with a camcorder - secretly shot in a cinema, probably over the
heads of the paying audience - with video that may have came from
Russia, synced up to a poor quality English soundtrack. By the
end of the weekend, the two copies were being spread around, and by
Sunday they had been downloaded some 200,000 times, Envisional
claimes.

Cohen now Britains Highest Paid Celebrity

The wage is based on deal for the rights to his new
movie Bruno, plus a hefty 'back-end' deal which will see
Baron Cohen pocket 15 per cent of box office takings,
according to the London Daily Mail.
The deal puts him well above No. 2 on the list of high-paid British
actors, a position held by both Ewan McGregor and Keira Knightley.

RTG Adds New
Talent Agent, Publicist, Casting Director Services
RTG
has added new features to it's website which will now include pages
for Talent Agents, Publicists, and Casting Directors to view the
representation and production opportunities available with RTG.
Darren VanCleave, RTG President, said "with our talent management
and production divisions, we have quite a few needs. In the
talent division, we are constantly seeking to improve the agency
representation of our talent as their careers accelerate. In
addition, we invest in and develop about ten to twenty unknown
actors each year; and most of them have no agency representation.
Our production division is involved in a slate of approximately
eleven films that are currently in different stages of development
and production. We are constantly seeking top casting
directors. Our thought was, why not promote it on our website?
We plan to improve the pages over the next few months so that it
will become a good resource for agents, publicist and casting
directors. I think it will take a few weeks to get a feel on
exactly how we should do it. Hopefully we will get some
feedback from the different communities."

Liberty for Sciole

amazing woman." There is actually a city in Texas named for

Dan Rather Joins Team Cuban
Dan Rather left the CBS TV network after decades of reporting and anchoring for one of the oldest of the old media. Now he's about to reappear on a new network, this one with HD content.
Rather's going to host a weekly news magazine on Mark Cuban's HDNet. Cuban's net provides only HD content. His cable and satellite channel is available through Time Warner, Charter, Adelphia, DirecTV, Dish Network and other distributors.
So we may get answers soon to intriguing media puzzles. Do viewers care about picture quality? How big a deal is HD to the user? Are HD and low-def YouTube video opposing or complementary trends?
And as for "Dan Rather Reports" it premieres at 8 p.m. EST on tonight, November 14. Then it repeats three times during the week. Rather is promoting his new show with the catch phrase "quality news with integrity." In an interview with the Baltimore Sun, Rather said that such reporting "has gone badly out of style" because of the cost, time, and controversy -- "and these huge international entities that now control about 85 percent of American media are controversy-averse." Not so the entrepreneurial maverick Cuban (owner of the Dallas Mavericks basketball team), who, Rather observed, owns the whole company. "He's not answerable to anybody but himself. ... He's smart, and he's got guts." He said that when he left CBS he wanted to tie up with "the 21st Century equivalent of [former CBS Chairman] Bill Paley or [CNN founder] Ted Turner ...some titan of business who felt that business had to have a public-service component."

between the U.S. and Latin America
becoming very integrated."
"There will be greater need for

bi-directionally between Spanish and

United Artist Reborn Under Cruise Wagner Leadership
Tom
Cruise and his producing partner Paula Wagner have been put in
charge of United Artists, a film studio that was formed 85 years ago
by actors Charlie Chaplin, Mary Pickford, Douglas Fairbanks, and
D.W. Griffith.
The
development is a major comeback for Cruise and Wagner after ending
their 14-year producing deal at Paramount Studios.
MGM
said that Cruise and Wagner have taken an ownership interest in UA,
but did not specify financial terms. The pair will have full control
of the production slate, which is expected to be four films a year.

Sciole to star in 'Blood'
RTG's Jennifer Sciole will star as Erin in the feature horror
'Blood.' Sciole just completed John Melendez's 'Breaking the
F-ing Rules,' as Maria. Blood marks the sixth film Sciole has
booked this year. The film is being produced by Pacific Gold
Entertainment and Pathway Films, and will start production in early
December or January in Vancouver. Pacific Gold and Pathway
will also release a video game, Blood: Butchers Block,
simultaneously with the film. The producers are currently in
talks with several "name actors" to fill the other lead roles.
Blood is the harrowing tale of
Sam, a simple butcher who discovers that the love of his life is
being seduced by a vampire.

The Sex and the City Movie is back

Thursday, attributing the
information to "a studio insider,"
that the movie is a go and will
feature the popular HBO series'
original four stars, Sarah Jessica
Parker, Kristin Davis, Kim Cattrall
and Cynthia Nixon.
Based on the novel of the same name
by author Candace Bushnell, the
television show ran from 1998 until
2004 and is now in reruns on TBS.
The magazine said the project has

movie would never get off the ground
until the quartet figured out their

Jennifer
Sciole 'Breaking the F-ing Rules' with John Melendez
RTG's up-and-coming star, Jennifer Sciole, has signed on to play the
role of Maria in the feature comedy, 'Breaking the F-ing' rules
starring John Melendez, Jim Jay Bullock, Bellamy Young, and Mark
Cuban. Sciole stated, "I'm excited to work on this project
with John." "I've been a fan of his comedy since his days of
Stuttering John on Howard Stern. In this one, I get to use a special
talent that I have- crossing only one eye. Normally I use the
talent to scare away guys in bars, now it's going to get a big
screen debut. I was originally called to audition for the lead
role of Jennifer, but I was filming out of state at the time.
I told my manager that I wanted to work on this one, even if I it
was a small role. Maria is a fairly small supporting role, but
she's funny! I'm looking forward to meeting Mark Cuban and the
rest of the cast. Jim Jay Bullock and I are both cast in
another feature that should be filming before the end of the month."
The film, produced by Melendez, Caron Feldman and Lewis Bailey, will
be directed by Michael Delorenzo. Principal photography begins
October 15 in Los Angeles.

a correspondent, and in less than two months was named as co-host.

Big Box-Office for Scorsese
Martin Scorsese finally scored the allusive big box-office with 'The
Departed' this past weekend with $27 million in receipts. The
film, starring Jack Nicholoson, Leonardo DiCaprio, Matt Damon and
Mark Wahlberg beat most analysis expectations and was more than
triple Scorsese's previous bet, the $10.3 million opening of 'Cape
Fear.' Scorsese, who is recognized as one of the top directors
and producers in Hollywood history, despite his awards and critical
acclaim, has never had a big opening box office.
The Departed finished first in the Box-Office standings over the
weekend displacing last weekends top film, 'World Trade Center.'
New Line's 'The Texas Chainsaw Massacre: The Beginning' finished
second.

Sienna Miller Apologizes to Pittsburgh
After dubbing their city "S**tsburgh," Sienna Miller has apologized
to the residents of Pittsburgh for her remarks in a recent magazine
interview. The 24-year-old British actress, in town shooting
the screen adaptation of Michael Chabon's novel "The Mysteries of
Pittsburgh," called the city a name that sounds like Pittsburgh, but
contains an expletive. Her comments appear in the latest edition of
Rolling Stone, which hit newsstands Friday. Miller told
Rolling Stone, "Can you believe this is my life? Will you pity me
when you're back in your funky New York apartment and I'm still in
Pittsburgh? I need to get more glamorous films and stop with my
indie year." Her remarks touched a nerve there, where residents are
fiercely loyal to their hometown. Miller's comments appeared in the
city's two major daily newspapers and a television news anchor
offered to take Miller around town to show her the sights. "I think
obviously we have a great town, and I disagree with her comments,"
Mayor Luke Ravenstahl said, adding she should see the town. "I'm
sure in her short experience here she hasn't had the opportunity to
do that," he said. "If she would have, I think she would have found
that Pittsburgh is a great place to live." On Friday, Miller
apologized in a statement issued by her publicist, saying she was
referring to the fact that the production was shooting mostly at
night and she had not had a chance to fully explore the city.

Martin Sheen Goes to College
The star of the TV drama series "The West Wing" and dozens of
Hollywood films, began a new career today as a full-time college
student.
Sheen, 66, recently finished seven seasons
playing President Josiah Bartlett on the
Emmy-winning TV series, registered at
National University Galway in western
Ireland, where he will be studying
philosophy, English literature and
oceanography as part of a bachelor of arts
degree.
The university president, Iognaid O.
Muircheartaigh, said he expected students to
give Sheen enough space to enjoy his new
life of learning. "He's never been to
college and wants to come here to be a
regular student. It is a great privilege to
have him here, but we want to provide him as
natural an experience as possible."
Sheen attended high school in his native
Dayton, Ohio, but never attended college. He
has said he deliberately flunked his
entrance exam to the University of Dayton so
that he could pursue his dream of acting in
New York City.

Love Finds Sciole
Jennifer Sciole as signed to do the feature film 'The Shades of
Love.' Sciole will star as a singer in the reverse
"chick flick" directed by Robert Mann. The film will walk
audiences through a simple twist of fate, where three friends have
their world turn upside down. One friend meets the girl of his
dreams only to lose her suddenly. The next friend has his
heart broken when his first and only love betrays him by falling in
love with someone new. The third friend is hit hard by the
realization that the woman he thought he hated is getting married
and buried feelings begin to rise. Faith, conviction, and love
will stand trail against all odds when The Shades of Love take hold.
Brian Austin Green, Ben Feldman, Nicholle Tom, Mircea Monroe, Bonnie
Summerville, McKenzie Astin, JM Bullock and Andrew Keegin are also
starring in the film. Production begins next week in Los
Angeles.

The Latest $100 Million Blockbuster
"Invincible" took in $17 million at the box office last weekend -- a
respectable opening, sure. But it's nothing compared to the more
than $100 million dollars in sales the latest edition of the Madden
football video game took in during its first week.
"Madden NFL 07," which
was released on August 22, sold more than two million copies in its
opening week, according to the game's publisher, Electronic Arts.
The figure represents a 12% increase over last year.
To compare it to this year's Hollywood releases, only "Pirates of
the Caribbean: Dead Man's Chest," "The Da Vinci Code," "Superman
Returns" and "X-Men: The Last Stand" made more than $100 million in
their first seven days.

Mos Def Arrested for Impromptu Performance
Rapper and actor Mos Def was arrested Thursday night after
performing his song "Katrina Clap" without a permit outside the MTV
Video Music Awards.
Mos Def and his entourage rolled up on a flatbed truck outside Radio
City Music Hall in New York at 10 p.m. Thursday night and began an
unscheduled performance for the crowd of fans outside the venue.
A spokesperson for the New York Police Department told MTV News that
police officers asked Mos Def and the people he was with to shut
down their show because of crowd conditions.
A publicist for the rapper called the arrest "unjust." Donavan
added that the rapper was in the middle of performing when
approached by the police, but he shut everything down as soon as he
was made aware of the situation. "His staff and team were willing to
comply, as well but the police overreacted," Donavan said. "Mos Def
was not charged but given a summons for operating a sound
reproduction device without a permit — which he is going to
contest."

Aniston and Nike Close to Deal
Jennifer Aniston is reportedly set to sign a multi-million dollar
deal with sports giant Nike. The Hollywood beauty, 37, is in talks
with the firm over an international campaign, which will include a
coveted advertising spot during the televised Super Bowl final in
February.
According to internet reports, Aniston will donate a large
proportion of her fee to cancer charities. Aniston is a keen runner
and regularly appears in tabloid magazines jogging around her
Malibu, California, home. Earlier this week, rapper Eminem announced
he was designing limited-edition trainers for Nike, with proceeds of
the sales going toward charities in his native Michigan.
RTG
Does the Emmy's and Watches First-Time Winners Shine
The RTG Family hit the Emmy Red Carpet on Sunday. All that
attended had a wonderful time. "The Governors Ball was the
best I've ever seen," said actress Jennifer Sciole. In
addition, the groundbreaking action series "24," which turns one
dangerous day into a season, ended Sunday with a bang as it won
Emmys for best drama series and best actor for Kiefer Sutherland.
"The Office" was honored as best comedy although its star, Steve
Carell, lost the award for best actor in a comedy series to Tony
Shalhoub of "Monk."
Sutherland and Shalhoub picked up their statuettes in front of an
average of 16.1 million viewers — a 14 percent decrease from last
year — according to Nielsen Media Research. One Emmy frontrunner,
the sexy medical drama "Grey's Anatomy," was shut out from the
awards.
"Every once in a while you'll have an evening that just reminds you
that you're given too much and this is that evening," Sutherland
said. "This experience on '24' has been nothing but remarkable for
me."
Backstage, he told The Early Show national correspondent
Hattie Kauffman, "On a night like tonight, you just can't help but
be really humbled by it, which is very if funny, because normally,
you kinda think you would stick your chest out. But, I got up there,
and all the oxygen had left my body."
One Emmy frontrunner,
the sexy medical drama "Grey's Anatomy," was shut out from the
awards.
" For
"24," the three Emmys it won Sunday, including a directing trophy,
were vindication after five seasons of keeping audiences on the edge
of their couches as stalwart agent Jack Bauer (Sutherland) saved
America from terrorism.
Although Emmy nomination rule changes left some grumbling about
snubbed shows including "Lost," the revisions may have opened the
door for an offbeat series like "The Office," a smart satire about
cubicle life, and for "24" to prevail.
Mariska Hargitay of "Law & Order: Special Victims Unit" and Julia
Louis-Dreyfus of the freshman comedy "The New Adventures of Old
Christine" struck Emmy gold with lead actress awards for drama and
comedy, respectively.
"Well, I'm not somebody who really believes in curses — but curse
this, baby!" said Louis-Dreyfus, hoisting her trophy as she scoffed
at the so-called "Seinfeld curse" said to have prevented the stars
of the '90s hit comedy from launching successful shows of their own.
In
addition, she told Kauffman it was a big deal because, "I've never
been a lead actress before, to tell you the truth!"
The Emmy ceremony initially followed a predictable path Sunday as
Shalhoub won his third acting trophy for "Monk" and departed series
"Will & Grace," "The West Wing" and "Huff" earned bittersweet
toasts.
Until the finale, the surprises in the ceremony were courtesy of
host Conan O'Brien and his comedy bits, including a running gag that
had Bob Newhart's life threatened if the show ran long.
Winning didn't take the sting out of cancellation for at least one
star.
"It's not supposed to work this way, is it, when you say goodbye to
something?" said Blythe Danner, named best supporting actress in a
drama for "Huff."
"I guess I have to thank Showtime, even though they canceled us,"
Danner said, with a smile.
A teary-eyed Megan Mullally was honored for her supporting actress
work in the sitcom "Will & Grace," which wrapped up its eight-year
run.
Alan Alda was named best supporting actor in a drama for his role as
a Republican presidential candidate on "The West Wing," canceled
after seven seasons.
Alda wasn't on hand to accept the award. But he might have become
blasé: In recent years, he also had an Oscar nomination for his role
in Martin Scorsese's "The Aviator," a Tony nomination for his
Broadway performance in David Mamet's "Glengarry Glen Ross," and
another Emmy bid for "West Wing" — none of which he won.
His win was the 26th Emmy for the White House drama, a drama series
record. The show had been tied with "Hill Street Blues" and "L.A.
Law" with 25.
Jeremy Piven of "Entourage" was named best supporting actor in a
comedy.
The
ceremony opened with a taped comedy bit in which O'Brien was seen
sipping champagne aboard a jetliner. "What could possibly go wrong
tonight?" he says — before the plane crashes onto an island
resembling the one in ABC's drama.
After being greeted by "Lost" star Jorge Garcia, O'Brien fled
through a mysterious hatch and ended up crashing through other
series such as "The Office," "24" and "House."
"Subject could be anemic, possibly albino," was the diagnosis of
"House" star Hugh Laurie.

Tom Cruise, Paramount Cut Ties
The latest Hollywood breakup is a big one. Tom Cruise and his
partner Paula Wagner have split from their long time studio
relationship with Paramount. Sumner Redstone, Chairman of
Paramount said of the 14 year relationship with the Mission
Impossible star: "As much as we like him personally...we thought it
was wrong to renew his deal." "It's nothing to do with his acting
ability. He's a terrific actor," Redstone continued. "But we
don't think that someone who effects creative suicide and costs the
company revenue should be on the lot." Redstone was
referring to his belief that Cruise's star power was seriously
damaged by his public outbursts. Paula Wagner responded to
Redstone's comments saying it was Cruise/Wagner Productions that
decided against renewing the contract with Paramount in favor of
seeking independent financing.

Annie McKnight great in Material Girls premiere
RTG's Annie McKnight lit up the silver screen last week in Material
Girls, starring Hillary Duff and her sister. Annie is in a
supporting role as the jailer in the comedy. McKnight recently
appeared in In Justice and Everybody Hates Chris. The comedian
has also starred in the Tony Smith/Dale Lewis feature, Julia's Home,
as well as Hair Show, For da Love of Money, Two Degrees, Born to
Race, and Crimes of the Heart. Annie is also a stand up
comedian and begins a month long tour in mid- September.
